Privacy Policy
How we collect, use and protect personal information. Last updated 30 July 2026.
1. Who we are
This policy explains how SkilliHire (ABN 61 661 477 964) collects, uses, stores, discloses and protects personal information. In this policy, "we", "us" and "our" mean SkilliHire.
We are an Australian-owned AI venture builder and custom software development firm. We operate skillihire.com and the products Evolamate and VectorRegional, and we serve clients across Australia and internationally.
We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
2. What personal information we collect
What we collect depends entirely on how you interact with us. We only collect what we need for the purpose you came to us for.
- If you contact us: Your first and last name, email address, phone number, company name and the content of your message.
- If you subscribe to our newsletter: Your name, email address and country.
- If you apply for a job with us: Your name, email, phone and WhatsApp number, gender, date of birth, nationality, postal address, current position and employer, years of experience, expected salary, availability date, skills, education history, work history, projects, links to your portfolio, LinkedIn and GitHub, your cover letter, and the resume file you upload. Gender, date of birth and nationality are optional — you can submit an application without them.
- If you create an account: Your name and email address, and a securely hashed version of your password. We never see or store your password in readable form.
- If you use our learning platform: Your course enrolments, lesson progress, notes, quiz attempts and answers, certificates earned, and any messages you exchange with instructors.
- If you use our freelancing marketplace: Your freelancer or client profile, skills, hourly rate, portfolio links, the projects and proposals you post, milestones, and messages exchanged with other users.
- If you use our resume tools or apply for scholarships: The resume content you enter or upload, and the details you provide in a scholarship or visa enquiry.
- If you pay us: We do not collect or store your card details. Payments are processed by Stripe, and we receive only a confirmation of the transaction and its amount.
- If you use our website chat assistant: The messages you send, a short extract of the reply, and your IP address. Please do not type sensitive personal information into the chat.
- Automatically, when you browse: Page view records for blog, service, industry and community pages, and standard technical information such as your IP address, which our hosting and content delivery providers log for security and performance.
- If you join our team: Employment records including contact details, contract dates, attendance, tasks and payment records.
3. Sensitive information
Some information we collect in job applications — such as nationality or gender — may be sensitive information under the Privacy Act. We collect it only where you choose to provide it, we treat it as optional, and we use it solely to consider your application. You are free to leave those fields blank and your application will be considered on the same basis.
We do not collect health information, and we do not ask for government identifiers such as tax file numbers or passport numbers through this website.
4. How we collect it
We collect most personal information directly from you, when you complete a form, create an account, upload a document, send us a message, or subscribe to our newsletter.
Some information is collected automatically as you use the site, as described above. Where we receive information about you from someone else — for example a client who refers you to us — we will take reasonable steps to make sure you are aware of this policy.
5. Why we collect and use it
We use personal information for the purpose it was provided, and for directly related purposes you would reasonably expect. Specifically:
- To respond to your enquiry and provide the services you have asked for.
- To assess your application for employment with us.
- To create and administer your account, and to deliver courses, certificates and marketplace features you use.
- To process payments and issue receipts.
- To send our newsletter, where you have subscribed.
- To improve our website and services, including understanding which pages are useful.
- To keep our systems secure and to detect and prevent misuse.
- To meet our legal and record-keeping obligations.
6. Artificial intelligence and automated processing
We build AI systems, and we use AI within our own website. Our chat assistant is powered by a third-party large language model, which processes the messages you send in order to generate a reply. Our resume and scholarship tools use AI to generate suggestions and search results.
We do not use automated processing to make decisions about you that have a legal or similarly significant effect. Job applications are reviewed by a person. If that ever changes, we will update this policy and tell you before the change takes effect.
7. Who we share it with
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for anyone else's marketing.
We disclose personal information to the service providers that operate parts of our platform. Each is bound to protect it and to use it only to provide their service to us:
- Supabase, provided through Lovable Cloud: Database, user authentication and file storage, hosted in Ireland (EU West).
- Hostinger: Website hosting, and storage for uploaded files such as resumes.
- Brevo: Delivery of transactional and newsletter email.
- Stripe: Payment processing. Stripe handles card details directly; we never receive them.
- Google: Search Console for website performance, and the large language model behind our chat and AI features.
8. Overseas disclosure
Some of our service providers store or process personal information outside Australia. By providing information to us, you acknowledge it may be handled in the countries listed below.
We take reasonable steps to ensure overseas recipients handle personal information consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles, including by contracting with established providers that publish their own privacy and security commitments.
- Ireland (European Union): Our database, user accounts and uploaded files are hosted in the EU West region. Information held there is also subject to European data protection law, which sets a high standard for security and individual rights.
- France (European Union): Brevo, which delivers our email.
- United States: Stripe for payment processing, and Google for search performance reporting and the language model behind our AI features.
9. Direct marketing and how to opt out
We only send marketing email to people who have asked for it. Every newsletter includes an unsubscribe link at the bottom, and most email programs also offer a one-click unsubscribe. Unsubscribing takes effect immediately, and in any case within five business days as required by the Spam Act 2003 (Cth).
You can also unsubscribe at any time at skillihire.com/unsubscribe, or by emailing us. Opting out of marketing does not stop essential service messages, such as a reply to your enquiry or a receipt for a payment.
10. How we protect it
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. These include encryption in transit across the whole site, database access rules that restrict each record to the people entitled to see it, private storage for uploaded documents with time-limited access links, hashed passwords, and restricting administrative access to staff who need it.
No system can be guaranteed completely secure. If you believe your account or information has been compromised, please contact us immediately.
11. Data breaches
If a data breach occurs that is likely to result in serious harm, we will contain and assess it, notify affected individuals and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as required by the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme, and tell you what steps you can take.
12. How long we keep it
We keep personal information for as long as it remains relevant to the purpose it was collected for, or for as long as the law requires us to.
In practice that means we retain job applications so we can consider you for future roles, enquiries so we have a record of our correspondence, and account and course records for as long as your account is open. Financial and tax records are kept for seven years, as Australian law requires. Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe.
You can ask us to delete your information at any time and we will do so, unless we are required to keep it. We review what we hold periodically and remove what we no longer need.
13. Accessing and correcting your information
You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and you can ask us to correct anything that is inaccurate, out of date or incomplete. Contact us using the details below.
We will respond within a reasonable period, normally 30 days. We may need to verify your identity first. If we cannot give you access, we will tell you why in writing and explain how to complain.
You can also ask us to delete your information. We will do so unless we are required to keep it — for example financial records.
14. Dealing with us anonymously
You can browse our website without telling us who you are, and you can ask general questions through our chat assistant anonymously. We cannot, however, respond to an enquiry, assess a job application, create an account or process a payment without the information needed to do so.
15. Children
Our services are directed at businesses and working professionals, and are not intended for children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will remove it.
16. Complaints
If you think we have mishandled your personal information or breached the Australian Privacy Principles, please contact us first at contact@skillihire.com. We will acknowledge your complaint and aim to resolve it within 30 days.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au, by phone on 1300 363 992, or by writing to GPO Box 5218, Sydney NSW 2001.
17. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our services or the law change. The current version is always available at skillihire.com/privacy, and the date it was last updated is shown at the top. Where a change is significant, we will take reasonable steps to tell you.
18. Contact us
For any question about this policy, or to make a privacy request or complaint, contact us at contact@skillihire.com or +61 469 780 042. We are an Australian business serving clients nationwide, with offices in Sydney and Orange NSW.
